A Note from the Author: I can't help but to smile at the divine irony that seems always to charge my life. I spent so much of it, insistently guarding my innermost private thoughts and fears regarding my "unusual" work. Little did I know, it had been destined all along to become an open book!

Among other things God seems to have blessed me with an exceptional appreciation of life, complete, with all its beauty and its horror. For me, that horror ultimately became the path through which everything beautiful eventually came into my life. However, during those long difficult years spent re-living the tragic deaths of others, I was never quite sure if I had been blessed or cursed with an unbidden and non-returnable dark gift. A good friend once told me the only way I would ever really know the answer to that question was to expose it to the light. “Dig down, deep down into pits of your soul,” he said. “Be fearless, and write everything that surfaces. In those pages you will find your truth.”

I took his words quite literally and I began to write. I wrote about every dark and terrifying experience I had ever encountered, and before I knew it, an amazing thing began to happen. Like a new seedling reaching up from the dark earth, those painful experiences began their metamorphosis. Those dormant seeds miraculously began to grow. Soon enough they began to blossom into something beautiful, and so it is that once again, I am grateful.

Many thanks to Peter Cooper for his sage advise.
